The Greatest Deception of Dajjal: Concealing the Pharaoh Who Was Saved Behind the Narrative of a “Preserved Corpse”

Surah Yunus 10:92 is among the verses that most strongly deserve to be reread with careful attention.
Many people are already familiar with one narrative:
Pharaoh died, his body was preserved, and his corpse was later displayed as evidence.
That narrative has become so popular that almost everyone recognises the association:
Pharaoh → mummy → Egypt → museum.
But when Yunus 10:92 is reread according to its own Arabic grammatical structure, a major question arises:
Does the Quran actually say, “We preserved Pharaoh’s corpse”?
The answer is:
No.
The verse reads:
“So today We save you with your body, so that you may become a sign for those who come after you; and indeed, many people are truly heedless of Our signs.”
— Yunus 10:92
This verse must be read word by word, rather than immediately being filled with a popular interpretation.
⸻
1. WHO IS BEING SAVED?
Pay attention to the word:
نُنَجِّيكَ — nunajjīka
Its components are:
نُنَجِّي
= We save
كَ
= you
Therefore, the object of the act of saving is:
YOU.
Not:
your body.
If the Quran had intended to say directly:
“We save your body,”
a more direct structure would have been something like:
نُنَجِّي بَدَنَكَ
But the verse does not say that.
The verse says:
نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ
That is:
“We save YOU with YOUR body.”
This is not a minor difference.
It is a highly significant grammatical difference.
⸻
2. “WITH YOUR BODY” IS NOT THE SAME AS “YOUR BODY IS SAVED”
The expression:
بِبَدَنِكَ
consists of:
بِـ
= with / through / together with
بَدَنِ
= body
كَ
= your
Therefore, literally:
“with your body.”
The body appears in a phrase introduced by بِـ.
The body is not the primary object being saved.
The one being saved is:
كَ — you.
Therefore, the translation:
“We save your body”
is an interpretation.
It is not the closest literal rendering of the verse’s grammatical structure.
⸻
3. WHO BECOMES THE SIGN?
The verse then says:
لِتَكُونَ
= “so that you may become”
Once again, the one being referred to is:
YOU.
Not:
your body.
The Quran does not say:
لِيَكُونَ بَدَنُكَ آيَةً
“so that your body may become a sign.”
Instead, it says:
لِتَكُونَ … آيَةً
“so that YOU may become a sign.”
Therefore, this verse contains two emphases:
نُنَجِّيكَ
→ We save you
and:
لِتَكُونَ
→ so that you may become a sign
Only between these two expressions does it say:
بِبَدَنِكَ
→ with your body
Therefore, the central subject of the verse is:
Pharaoh himself,
not:
merely Pharaoh’s corpse.
⸻
4. THE SEQUENCE OF VERSES 10:90–92
Surah Yunus 10:90 states:
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَدْرَكَهُ الْغَرَقُ
“Until, when drowning overtook him…”
Then Pharaoh said:
آمَنتُ
“I believe.”
And:
وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
“And I am among the Muslims.”
Then, in 10:91:
آلْآنَ
“Now?”
Then, in 10:92:
فَالْيَوْمَ نُنَجِّيكَ
“So today We save you…”
Notice the progression of the text:
drowning → declaration of faith → rebuke → salvation.
The verse does not say:
drowning → death → preservation of the corpse → placement in a museum.
That is a narrative arising from later interpretation.
⸻
5. WHY IS THE MUMMY NARRATIVE SO EASILY ACCEPTED?
Because it appears extremely convincing.
There is a body.
There is a museum.
There is Egyptian history.
There are documentaries.
There are photographs.
There are schoolbooks.
There is tourism.
So people say:
“This is the evidence of Yunus 10:92.”
But the real question is:
Does the existence of a mummy prove that this is what the verse means?
Not necessarily.
A historical object cannot replace the grammatical structure of the Quran.
⸻
6. A PRESERVED CORPSE CAN BECOME A COVER, NOT DEFINITIVE PROOF
This is the most important part.
The most effective deception does not necessarily involve creating something out of nothing.
Sometimes, it is enough to take something that genuinely exists and present it as:
“the definitive answer.”
Mummies do exist.
Corpses can be preserved.
Museums do display human remains.
But when all these are used to make people stop asking:
“Does the Quran actually say that Pharaoh’s corpse was preserved?”
then the mummy can function as:
a cover over the real question.
⸻
7. EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT MUMMIES, BUT FEW EXAMINE THE VERSE
This is where the ending of Yunus 10:92 becomes particularly interesting:
وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا لَغَافِلُونَ
“And indeed, many people are truly heedless of Our signs.”
Notice this.
If the sign were merely:
“Pharaoh’s mummy is in a museum,”
then that would no longer be a secret.
Even people who do not read the Quran know that:
Pharaoh is associated with mummies.
That story has spread throughout the world through:
schools,
the media,
museums,
the internet,
films,
and documentaries.
So what are people still:
لَغَافِلُونَ — truly heedless of?
This is where a much deeper possibility arises:
People are not heedless of the existence of mummies.
They may be heedless of:
what Allah actually states about Pharaoh.
⸻
8. SEEING A SIGN DOES NOT MEAN UNDERSTANDING THE SIGN
A person can see a mummy with their own eyes,
yet still fail to understand the verse.
A person can stand in front of a museum exhibition,
yet never ask:
Why does the Quran use نُنَجِّيكَ?
A person can know the history of ancient Egypt,
yet never examine:
Why does the Quran say لِتَكُونَ?
Therefore, knowing about an object is not the same as understanding:
آيَةً — a sign.
⸻
9. THIS IS HOW DAJJAL’S CONCEALMENT CAN OCCUR
Dajjal does not necessarily have to erase the text.
It is more cunning to leave the text untouched.
The verse is recited.
The Quran is printed.
Translations are distributed.
But one particular interpretation is made so popular that people no longer see:
what the verse actually says.
This is a more subtle form of falsification:
The truth is not removed.
It is merely:
covered by a highly convincing story.
In Pharaoh’s case:
The Quran says: YOU are saved.
But the popular narrative says:
your corpse was preserved.
The Quran says:
so that YOU may become a sign.
The popular narrative shifts the focus towards:
a body in a museum.
⸻
10. PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD KNOW ABOUT MUMMIES
This is a point that must not be forgotten.
The mummy narrative is not knowledge confined to a small group.
It is common knowledge.
Schoolchildren know about it.
Tourists know about it.
Non-Muslims know about it.
Filmmakers know about it.
Historical documentaries discuss it.
Museums make it a public attraction.
Therefore, if it were true that:
“the mummy is the sign being referred to,”
then that sign would already be extremely well known.
But the verse says:
Many people are heedless.
Therefore, what they are heedless of may not be the mummy.
They may be heedless of:
the meaning of Pharaoh’s salvation itself.
⸻
11. THE SHRINKING OF A CORPSE ALSO RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TERM “PRESERVED”
A mummy on display is not a body that has remained exactly as it was during life.
It undergoes:
drying,
shrinkage,
changes in tissue,
and changes in form.
Therefore, the expression:
“a perfectly preserved body”
must also be examined.
“Still existing” is not the same as:
“saved with the body.”
These are two different things.
⸻
12. WHAT CAN BE ESTABLISHED FROM THE VERSE?
Grammatically, the strongest points are:
نُنَجِّيكَ
→ the object of salvation is you
بِبَدَنِكَ
→ with your body
لِتَكُونَ
→ so that you may become a sign
Therefore, one conclusion is very clear:
THE QURAN DOES NOT SAY, “WE PRESERVED YOUR CORPSE.”
That is an interpretation.
And that interpretation cannot be forced into the text as though it were the original wording of the verse.
⸻
13. DOES THIS IMMEDIATELY PROVE THAT PHARAOH WAS BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE?
Discipline is essential here.
Yunus 10:92, on its own, does not explicitly state:
“Pharaoh died and was then brought back to life.”
But the verse opens up considerable room to investigate that possibility because:
the one being saved is you,
with your body,
so that you may become a sign.
Therefore, the next question is valid:
What is the true meaning of Pharaoh’s salvation after the drowning?
That subject must be developed using other revealed texts.
But one point is already firmly established:
The narrative of a “preserved corpse” is not the literal wording of Yunus 10:92.
⸻
14. WHY COULD THIS BECOME A GREAT DECEPTION OF DAJJAL?
Because Dajjal does not merely falsify things that do not exist.
Dajjal can take:
something that exists,
something that is well known,
something that is trusted,
and turn it into:
a layer that conceals the truth.
The mummy exists.
The museum exists.
The body exists.
But all these can become:
a screen.
People see the screen,
but they no longer see the verse.
⸻
15. THE MOST SUCCESSFUL DECEPTION IS WHEN PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEY ALREADY KNOW
If someone does not know, they will continue searching.
But if they have already been given a highly convincing answer:
“This is Pharaoh. This is his corpse. This is proof of the Quran.”
they stop searching.
That is the most effective form of concealment:
not making people ignorant,
but making them:
feel that they already know.
⸻
CONCLUSION
Surah Yunus 10:92 needs to be reread without starting with the museum.
Start with the verse.
The verse says:
نُنَجِّيكَ
“We save you.”
Then:
بِبَدَنِكَ
“with your body.”
Then:
لِتَكُونَ
“so that you may become.”
Then:
آيَةً
“a sign.”
Then the verse concludes:
وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ النَّاسِ عَنْ آيَاتِنَا لَغَافِلُونَ
“And indeed, many people are truly heedless of Our signs.”
Therefore, do not be too quick to say:
“That settles it. It is the mummy in the museum.”
Because everyone already knows about mummies.
But the Quran itself says:
Many are still heedless.
Therefore, the real question is:
WHAT IS THE ACTUAL SIGN THAT THEY HAVE FAILED TO RECOGNISE?
And this is where the possibility of Dajjal’s deception becomes so significant:
The mummy is not necessarily the truth being sought.
It can become:
A COVER THAT MAKES PEOPLE STOP SEARCHING.
EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT MUMMIES.
BUT ONLY A FEW EXAMINE WHAT YUNUS 10:92 ACTUALLY SAYS.
DAJJAL DOES NOT NEED TO ERASE THE QURAN.
IT IS ENOUGH TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE ALREADY UNDERSTOOD IT.
