Hijriah Kompang is a cultural initiative within the SiHulk community that brings members together through the traditional rhythms of kompang — an important and vibrant part of Malay cultural heritage.

Through regular weekly practice sessions, members come together to learn, practise and develop their kompang skills while strengthening teamwork, friendship and connection within the community. These gatherings provide a welcoming environment where both experienced and new participants can learn from one another and enjoy the tradition together.

More than a musical activity, Hijriah Kompang is also about preserving and passing on Malay cultural heritage to the next generation. By involving members of different ages, the group creates opportunities for younger generations to experience, appreciate and continue a tradition that has long been part of Malay celebrations and community life.

Beyond its regular practice sessions, Hijriah Kompang also participates in SiHulk events and community occasions, bringing the energetic sound of kompang to celebrations and gatherings while sharing a distinctive part of Malay culture with a wider audience.

Through every practice and performance, Hijriah Kompang represents the joy of coming together — where individual rhythms become one collective sound and cultural heritage becomes a bridge connecting people and generations.

Preserving Heritage. Connecting Generations. Bringing Communities Together.
