The SiHulk Eid al-Adha Celebration brought members together to commemorate a day of sacrifice, obedience, gratitude and devotion to Allah.
For SiHulk, the meaning of sacrifice also carries a deeper spiritual reflection: “killing the self” — not the physical self, but the ego and sense of self-importance (keakuan). It represents the inner struggle to surrender pride, selfish desire and the dominance of the “I” within oneself.
Just as Qurban symbolises sacrifice and submission, SiHulk reflects upon Eid al-Adha as an opportunity to sacrifice the ego — to overcome keakuan, cultivate humility and place obedience to Allah above the desires of the self.
The gathering also strengthens brotherhood, togetherness, generosity and care among members and families.
Through this understanding, Eid al-Adha becomes both an outward celebration and an inward reminder: the true sacrifice begins within — by overcoming the ego and surrendering the self in devotion to Allah.
