The Human Self Is Only a Profile

October 8, 2026By SIHULK12 min read

Human beings often see themselves through their physical bodies.

Their faces.

Their hands.

Their ages.

Their bodies.

But the physical body changes constantly.

A baby becomes a child.

A child becomes an adult.

An adult grows old.

The physical form changes, yet a person still says:

“This is me.”

So what exactly is this “I”?

To make this easier to understand, consider the analogy of the Apple ecosystem.

⸻

1. WHEN YOU SAY “APPLE”, DO NOT IMAGINE THE FRUIT

The word Apple is a name that represents a meaning.

When someone says “Apple”, they are not talking about the fruit.

They are referring to an entire system:

identity,

technology,

arrangement,

products,

services,

and everything represented by that name.

Within this analogy:

APPLE = ESSENCE

Not because Apple is an unseen entity.

But because “Apple” is a name that encompasses its meaning, attributes and actions.

We recognise Apple through:

what it brings,

the attributes of its system,

and what it produces.

Therefore, when you say “Apple”, do not imagine the fruit.

Likewise, when discussing Essence:

ESSENCE is the meaning or content recognised through Attributes and Actions.

⸻

2. TO KNOW APPLE, YOU MUST KNOW ITS BEARER

Apple does not appear before humanity and introduce itself independently.

There are people who carry the idea of Apple.

There are founders.

There are bearers.

There are people who introduce the system to humanity.

Therefore, to know Apple, people must know those who carry Apple.

Within this analogy, the founder is the original bearer of what later became known as Apple.

Without a bearer, the name Apple remains only a name.

Through the bearer:

the idea is explained,

the system is introduced,

products are created,

and people understand what “Apple” means.

This reveals one principle:

MEANING DOES NOT MOVE BY ITSELF — IT REQUIRES A BEARER.

⸻

3. CLAIMING “I AM APPLE” MEANS TAKING WHAT BELONGS TO APPLE

An iPhone user cannot say:

“I am Apple.”

They are only a user.

Even though every day they depend upon:

iCloud,

App Store,

iOS,

servers,

updates,

security,

sync,

and the entire Apple ecosystem.

The more they use Apple, the clearer their dependence upon Apple becomes.

But that dependence does not make them Apple.

If they claim to be Apple, they have taken a name that does not belong to them.

They are users.

Not the owners of the name.

Not the creators of the system.

Not the source of the system.

This principle is important:

DEPENDENCE UPON SOMETHING DOES NOT MAKE US ITS OWNER.

⸻

4. APPLE IS NOT AN IPHONE

Apple is not the same as an iPhone.

Apple has:

iPhone,

iPad,

Mac,

Apple Watch,

Vision Pro.

There are different devices.

But all belong to one ecosystem.

Therefore:

DEVICE ≠ THE ENTIRE SYSTEM.

The same applies to human beings.

The physical body is only a device.

There are male bodies.

There are female bodies.

Some are tall.

Some are short.

Some are young.

Some are old.

Some are strong.

Some are weak.

Devices change.

But the more important question is:

WHOSE PROFILE IS USING THAT DEVICE?

⸻

5. THE PHYSICAL BODY IS LIKE A PHONE

Imagine an iPhone.

It has:

a camera,

a microphone,

speakers,

sensors,

a screen,

a processor,

storage,

a battery.

Human beings also have sensory instruments:

eyes,

ears,

nose,

tongue,

skin.

All these are interfaces.

The eyes receive visual information.

The ears receive sound.

The skin receives touch.

But hardware does not determine who the user is.

Two people may buy the same phone model.

After several months, their phones may become very different.

The first phone is filled with:

knowledge,

notes,

reading materials,

work,

the Quran.

The second phone may be filled with:

entertainment,

games,

videos,

social media.

SAME DEVICE.

DIFFERENT PROFILES.

⸻

6. THE BATTERY IS LIKE FOOD

A phone requires energy.

Without a battery containing a supply of energy, the device stops functioning.

The same applies to the physical body.

Human beings need to:

eat,

drink,

breathe,

rest.

Food is not the human being.

But food helps the physical body continue its living functions.

Within this analogy:

BATTERY = FOOD / ENERGY SUPPLY FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY

A phone may have:

apps,

a profile,

data,

a network,

but if the battery is empty, the device cannot continue operating.

The same applies to human beings.

Food sustains the physical body’s ability to support life for a period of time.

⸻

7. APPS ARE NOT THE RUH — APPS ARE COLLECTIONS OF DATA AND CODE

Let us refine this analogy.

Apps are not simply symbols of functionality.

Apps actually consist of:

data + code + instructions + functional structures.

But an application itself does not operate without data continuously moving through the system.

Therefore, the more accurate analogy is:

RUH = DATA / CODE THAT IS CONTINUOUSLY STREAMING

As long as streaming continues, the device can operate its system.

When streaming stops, the physical body no longer lives in the same state.

Therefore, within this analogy, the Ruh is not an “object” sitting inside the body.

It is:

a flow of data, instructions, networks and information that continuously sustains its operation.

⸻

8. THE RUH IS CONTINUOUSLY STREAMING

A modern phone does not operate in isolation.

It is constantly connected to:

servers,

the cloud,

networks,

updates,

notifications,

sync,

data transfers.

The same applies to the analogy of human beings.

The Ruh is an affair of the Lord that is continuously streaming.

It is not something that must be imagined as a figure.

It is a continuous flow of information.

As long as streaming continues:

the physical body receives instructions,

functions operate,

the senses work,

memory processes continue,

consciousness remains active.

⸻

9. ANGELS AS THE MEDIUM OF TRANSMISSION

Data does not travel without a medium.

A phone receives data through:

waves,

Wi-Fi,

Bluetooth,

radio frequencies,

networks.

Data is transmitted wirelessly across space.

Within this analogy:

ANGELS = MEDIUM / WAVES OF TRANSMISSION

Angels do not need to be imagined as winged human figures carrying letters.

They can be understood through their functions:

transmitting, carrying, conveying and connecting.

Data comes from the source.

The medium carries it.

The device receives it.

⸻

10. THE PHYSICAL BODY DOES NOT STREAM

This is an important point.

The physical body itself does not travel like a signal.

That is why human beings do not fly from one place to another like waves of data.

The physical body is hardware.

Hardware must occupy physical space.

But data can be transmitted across space without transporting the hardware itself.

For example:

images are transferred,

voices are transferred,

videos are transferred,

profiles are transferred,

settings are transferred,

without the original phone having to fly anywhere.

The same applies to the analogy of human beings:

THE PHYSICAL BODY DOES NOT STREAM — DATA STREAMS.

⸻

11. THE QALB IS CLOSER TO A PROFILE

The qalb is not a CPU.

A CPU only processes information.

The qalb is more accurately compared to:

A PROFILE.

A profile determines:

what is liked,

what is disliked,

what is frequently opened,

what is prioritised,

what is saved,

what is discarded,

what is sought.

A profile is an arrangement of inclinations.

Someone opens a phone and is presented with thousands of choices.

But the profile determines:

what they choose first.

Therefore, the profile reflects:

“This is who I am, based on what I repeatedly choose.”

⸻

12. ICLOUD IS WHERE THE PROFILE IS STORED

A phone can be lost.

Its screen can break.

Its battery can die.

The device can become damaged.

But the profile can be stored on a server.

When the user signs in to a new device:

contacts return,

photos return,

notes return,

settings return,

preferences return,

apps return,

the arrangement returns.

Why?

Because what matters most is not the old device.

What matters most is:

PROFILE + DATA + ARRANGEMENT.

⸻

13. ICLOUD AS AN ANALOGY FOR LUH MAHFUZ

Within this analogy:

ICLOUD = LUH MAHFUZ

iCloud exists on servers.

It stores the user’s profile.

Not only the form of the device.

But also:

data,

preferences,

history,

arrangements,

choices,

records.

The device may change.

The profile remains stored.

The same applies to human beings.

The physical body does not have to be the absolute storage location of one’s entire identity.

What matters is:

THE HUMAN PROFILE HAS BEEN RECORDED.

Within this analogy, Luh Mahfuz is like a server that stores every profile.

⸻

14. ONE DEVICE BREAKS — THE PROFILE IS NOT NECESSARILY LOST

An iPhone can break.

But the user does not necessarily lose their identity.

They sign in to a new device using the same profile.

Different device.

Same profile.

This reveals an important understanding:

THE HUMAN BEING IS NOT THE PHYSICAL BODY.

The human being is the profile that uses the physical body.

The physical body is only a temporary device.

⸻

15. EVERYONE RECEIVES FUNCTIONS — BUT PROFILES DIFFER

Human beings have the potential for:

mercy,

trustworthiness,

patience,

justice,

anger,

fear,

love,

desire.

Everyone may possess the same potential.

But what distinguishes them is:

PRIORITY.

One person prioritises mercy.

Another prioritises power.

One prioritises trustworthiness.

Another prioritises self-interest.

The set of functions may be the same.

But the arrangement of the profile differs.

⸻

16. SINS AND GOOD DEEDS SHAPE THE PROFILE

Doing something once creates a piece of data.

Repeating it many times creates a pattern.

A pattern becomes a preference.

A preference becomes a profile.

The same applies to good deeds.

Being patient once does not necessarily create a patient profile.

But when patience is repeatedly chosen:

it becomes part of the arrangement of the self.

Therefore, life is a process of forming the profile.

Every choice is like pressing:

SAVE.

⸻

17. REPENTANCE MEANS REARRANGING THE PROFILE

Human beings may realise that their arrangement is wrong.

They can remove:

bad data,

destructive habits,

misplaced priorities.

Then rearrange themselves.

In technological terms:

reset preferences,

remove corrupted data,

change settings,

return to the source.

Repentance is the process of changing the arrangement.

⸻

18. UMMĪ AS THE ORIGINAL SERVER / SOURCE

Now we come to the concept of Ummī.

Within a digital system, there is always:

a source,

a server,

a standard,

a protocol,

an original system.

Within this analogy:

UMMĪ = ORIGINAL SERVER / ORIGINAL SOURCE

From it, the arrangement is transmitted.

A device does not create its own system.

It receives from the source.

Likewise, human beings need an original point of reference.

⸻

19. MUHAMMAD ﷺ AS THE ORIGINAL BEARER

To understand a system, you must know its bearer.

Within the Apple analogy:

to know Apple,

you must know who carried it,

who introduced it,

who manifested its meaning to humanity.

The same applies to the Risalah.

Muhammad ﷺ is the bearer of the Risalah.

He did not obtain his profile from other human beings.

He himself became the original source of the arrangement through which the Risalah was carried.

Therefore, the Ummī does not force human beings to follow a profile.

The Ummī himself is the original arrangement.

⸻

20. THE QURAN IS LIKE SOURCE CODE

The Quran can be compared to:

WRITTEN SOURCE CODE.

It describes the structure.

It provides instructions.

It establishes functions.

Muhammad ﷺ is the bearer who demonstrates how that source code “runs”.

Mercy becomes action.

Trustworthiness becomes action.

Patience becomes action.

Wisdom becomes action.

Therefore:

THE QURAN = WHAT IS EXPRESSED IN WRITING

MUHAMMAD ﷺ = THE BEARER WHO DEMONSTRATES WHAT IS IMPLICIT

⸻

21. DEATH IS WHEN THE DEVICE STOPS FUNCTIONING

When a phone dies:

the hardware remains.

But the system no longer operates.

The same applies to the physical body.

When life ceases:

the physical body remains,

but its operation ends.

Within this analogy:

DEATH = THE DEVICE STOPS OPERATING

But the profile does not necessarily die.

The profile has been stored.

⸻

22. HUMAN BEINGS ARE ONLY PROFILES

This is the conclusion of the chapter.

Human beings are too preoccupied with:

appearance,

age,

gender,

status,

wealth,

physical form.

Yet all these are characteristics of the device.

What is carried forward is:

the profile.

What was chosen.

What was liked.

What was prioritised.

What was repeated.

What became a pattern.

Therefore:

THE HUMAN BEING IS ONLY A PROFILE.

⸻

23. THE PROFILE DOES NOT DIE

The device can die.

But the profile does not die with the device.

The profile remains within the record.

It can receive another device suited to the arrangement of that profile.

This is why the physical body is not the absolute identity.

Identity is the profile.

⸻

24. THE NEXT DEVICE CORRESPONDS TO THE PROFILE

Once the profile has been formed:

its arrangement already exists.

Its preferences already exist.

Its priorities already exist.

Its data already exists.

Therefore, the next device can be given according to each person’s profile.

Not everyone receives the same device.

Because everyone’s profile differs.

What has been developed becomes the seed of what will be received.

⸻

25. THIS IS NOT REINCARNATION

This must be emphasised.

THIS IS NOT REINCARNATION.

Reincarnation describes repeated births into this world, moving from body to body again and again.

But this analogy does not say that.

Human beings undergo only one predetermined journey.

One worldly life.

One opportunity to build the profile.

One final arrangement.

After that, the profile receives a form suited to the next realm.

It does not return to become a worldly human being repeatedly.

⸻

26. ONE PROFILE — ONE JOURNEY

Therefore, human beings should not imagine:

death,

rebirth into this world,

death again,

another rebirth,

repeating endlessly.

No.

Within this framework:

ONE PROFILE.

ONE JOURNEY.

ONE FINAL ARRANGEMENT.

The device changes according to the realm.

But the profile carries continuity.

⸻

27. THE SEED IS THE FINAL PROFILE

The profile completed in this world becomes like a seed.

A small seed.

Yet within it lies the entire arrangement of a tree.

The type of fruit.

The shape of the leaves.

The branches.

The characteristics of growth.

The same applies to the profile.

It carries the arrangement of the self.

And that arrangement becomes the foundation for the form of life that follows.

⸻

CONCLUSION

This analogy can be summarised as follows:

APPLE

= ESSENCE / THE MEANING OF THE SYSTEM

APPLE’S FOUNDER / BEARER

= THE ORIGINAL BEARER OF APPLE’S MEANING

SERVER / SOURCE

= UMMĪ / ORIGINAL SOURCE

ICLOUD

= LUH MAHFUZ

PROFILE / APPLE ID

= QALB / ORGANISED IDENTITY

CONTINUOUSLY STREAMING DATA + CODE

= RUH

WIRELESS / SPACE / WAVES

= ANALOGY FOR THE FUNCTION OF ANGELS AS A MEDIUM OF TRANSMISSION

IPHONE / DEVICE

= PHYSICAL BODY

APPS

= COLLECTIONS OF DATA AND CODE THAT PERFORM FUNCTIONS

BATTERY

= FOOD / ENERGY FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY

BROKEN DEVICE

= DEATH

PROFILE REMAINS STORED

= CONTINUITY OF IDENTITY

NEW DEVICE

= PHYSICAL BODY / DEVICE ACCORDING TO THE PROFILE IN THE NEXT REALM

SEED

= FINAL PROFILE

Therefore, human beings should no longer ask:

“What kind of physical body am I?”

The greater question is:

“WHAT KIND OF PROFILE AM I BUILDING?”

Because the physical body will come to an end.

The device will stop.

But the profile continues to carry:

choices,

arrangements,

priorities,

and the results of life’s journey.

And that profile is not formed to return to this world repeatedly.

NOT REINCARNATION.

It is the continuity of one profile through a predetermined journey across the realms.

And to ensure that the arrangement of the profile returns to the true source, human beings need:

UMMĪ — THE ORIGINAL SOURCE.

Because the source reveals the arrangement.

The bearer demonstrates its implementation.

And human beings decide for themselves whether to follow that arrangement or build a different profile.
