Who Is Truly a Servant?

September 19, 2026By SIHULK6 min read

The word servant is often misunderstood as though it refers to a created being situated on one side, worshipping another entity situated on the other side.

From this understanding arises the image of:

the servant here

and

the one being worshipped there.

Then the relationship is imagined as:

slave ↔ master

But within the framework of this discussion, the meaning of servant must be understood more precisely.

The servant is not the Message.

The servant is not an attribute.

The servant is not an action.

The servant is:

THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE.

⸻

THE MESSAGE IS NOT THE SERVANT

Consider a simple example.

Kick = Essence

A kick = Attribute

Kicking = Action

All three are merely:

DESCRIPTIONS.

They are not created beings.

They are not the one performing the action.

They are not the bearer.

They cannot be servants.

So who is the servant?

The answer is:

THE KICKER.

The kicker is the person who bears and carries out:

kick

a kick

and

kicking.

For example:

RONALDO.

Ronaldo is not “a kick”.

Ronaldo is not “kicking”.

Rather, Ronaldo is:

THE BEARER.

He is the one who brings those descriptions into manifestation.

⸻

CAN A KICK BECOME A SERVANT TO RONALDO?

No.

That would reverse the relationship.

Kick is merely Essence.

A kick is merely Attribute.

Kicking is merely Action.

All of these are descriptions.

The one who becomes the servant is:

RONALDO.

Because Ronaldo devotes himself to kicking.

He trains himself.

He controls his body.

He maintains discipline.

He performs the kick.

He produces a kick.

He manifests the action of kicking.

Therefore:

IT IS THE BEARER WHO BECOMES THE SERVANT.

The Message does not become a servant to its bearer.

⸻

THE SERVANT IS THE ONE WHO BEARS

From this analogy, one principle becomes clear:

THE MESSAGE DOES NOT BECOME THE SERVANT.

THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE BECOMES THE SERVANT.

The servant is the one who:

bears,

carries out,

manifests,

and does not separate himself from the Message he bears.

Therefore, a servant is not merely someone who outwardly “submits”.

A servant is:

A BEARER WHO LIVES BY THE MESSAGE.

⸻

PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ AS A SERVANT

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is:

THE BEARER OF ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

He bears the descriptions of:

Allah’s Essence

Allah’s Attributes

and

Allah’s Actions.

Therefore, he is:

عَبْدُ اللهِ

ABDULLAH

THE SERVANT OF ALLAH.

He is a servant not because he is “a slave to an unseen object”.

He is a servant because he:

BEARS ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

What he does is not separate from the Message he bears.

He is the most perfect example of:

A BEARER OF THE MESSAGE.

⸻

WHY IS HE MA‘SUM?

It is within this framework that his quality of being:

MA‘SUM

can be understood.

He does not need to force himself to “become Muhammad”.

He does not need to imitate Muhammad.

He does not need to strive to become the original.

He is:

THE ORIGINAL.

He is the original bearer.

Therefore, what he does is not separate from the Message he bears.

That is why he is:

THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A BEARER OF ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

⸻

HUMAN BEINGS, HOWEVER, ARE DIFFERENT

Human beings are not the original.

Human beings are:

THE UMMAH.

Human beings are weak.

Human beings have personal desires.

Human beings have their nafs.

Human beings can easily become separated from the Message.

That is why human beings must:

STRUGGLE AGAINST THEMSELVES.

EXERCISE THEIR WILL.

MAKE AN EFFORT.

HOLD FAST.

The purpose is for human beings also to become:

SERVANTS OF ALLAH.

But human beings become servants through:

CONSCIOUS EFFORT.

Whereas Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, as the original, does not need to imitate himself.

⸻

A SERVANT OF ALLAH, NOT A SLAVE TO ALLAH

This is where an important distinction must be understood.

The term is:

عَبْدُ اللهِ

Abdullah

not:

a slave to an object named Allah.

If Allah is imagined as a separate entity, human beings will begin to understand Abdullah as though it were:

ABDUL ILĀ ALLAH

as though it meant:

“a slave to an ilah named Allah.”

That is the misunderstanding.

Within this framework:

SERVANT OF ALLAH

means:

a bearer who is firmly connected to Allah’s Message.

Not a slave to an unseen object.

⸻

WHEN ALLAH IS MADE INTO A THING

A serious error begins when Allah is understood as:

شَيْءٌ

that is:

A THING.

When Allah is made into “something”, two entities immediately emerge:

the human being

and

Allah, imagined as an object.

The human being then constructs a relationship:

I worship that thing.

This is where the meaning of servant changes.

From:

THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE

to:

A SLAVE TO AN IMAGINED OBJECT.

Thus, the correct term can still lead to an incorrect understanding.

⸻

ABDULLAH IS NOT ABDUL ILĀH

A person may utter:

عبد الله

but understand it as:

“I am a slave to an unseen ilah named Allah.”

Thus, the tongue says:

ABDULLAH

but the mind understands:

ABDUL ILĀ ALLAH.

This is where the error occurs.

Not in the wording.

But in the understanding.

⸻

HUMAN BEINGS WHO FOLLOW HIM ALSO BECOME SERVANTS

When human beings truly follow Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, they too will become:

SERVANTS OF ALLAH.

How?

By:

following the bearer of the Message,

bearing the Message,

manifesting the Message,

and striving to ensure that their actions are not separate from the Message.

Therefore, becoming a servant is not merely a matter of saying:

“I am a servant.”

Rather, it is about:

BECOMING A BEARER.

⸻

MUHAMMAD THE UMMIY AND MUHAMMAD THE UMMAH

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is:

MUHAMMAD THE UMMIY.

The original.

Human beings who follow him are:

MUHAMMAD THE UMMAH.

Not the original.

Rather:

AN IMITATION THAT REMAINS CONNECTED TO THE ORIGINAL.

Human beings acknowledge:

“I am not the original.”

“I am not the source.”

“I am an imitation.”

“I remain connected to Muhammad the Ummiy.”

Thus, human beings become servants through:

CONNECTION.

FOLLOWING.

CONSCIOUS EFFORT.

⸻

LIKE A MOTHER AND HER CHILD

A mother is the original.

The child is the one connected to the original.

The child does not become the mother.

The child does not take the mother’s place.

But the child carries the influence, appearance, characteristics and connection inherited from the original.

Likewise:

MUHAMMAD THE UMMIY = THE ORIGINAL.

MUHAMMAD THE UMMAH = AN IMITATION CONNECTED TO THE ORIGINAL.

Therefore, human beings are not the same as the original.

That is why human beings must continually correct themselves.

⸻

SERVANT IS NOT A TITLE

Servant is not merely a name.

Not merely a title.

Not merely an expression of humility through words.

Being a servant is:

A STATE OF LIFE.

When a person bears the Message:

he is a servant.

When a person becomes separated from the Message:

he departs from the state of being a servant.

Therefore, human beings must continually:

STRIVE TO BECOME SERVANTS.

⸻

THE SERVANT AND THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE

The conclusion is simple:

Message = description

Bearer of the Message = the one who manifests the description

Servant = the bearer who remains connected to the Message

Therefore:

THE SERVANT IS NOT THE MESSAGE.

THE SERVANT IS THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE.

⸻

CONCLUSION

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is:

THE BEARER OF ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

That is why he is:

عَبْدُ اللهِ

ABDULLAH.

He is a servant not because he is a slave to an unseen object.

He is a servant because he:

REMAINS CONNECTED TO ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

BEARS ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

MANIFESTS ALLAH’S MESSAGE.

And he is the best example to follow.

Human beings, on the other hand, are:

THE UMMAH.

Not the original.

Not the source.

But an imitation that remains connected to the original.

That is why human beings must:

EXERCISE THEIR WILL

STRUGGLE AGAINST THEMSELVES

FOLLOW HIM

AND BECOME SERVANTS OF ALLAH.

Therefore:

THE MESSAGE IS NOT THE SERVANT.

THE BEARER OF THE MESSAGE IS THE SERVANT.

And:

A SERVANT OF ALLAH IS NOT A SLAVE TO AN OBJECT NAMED ALLAH.

A servant of Allah is:

A BEARER WHO IS NOT SEPARATED FROM THE MESSAGE HE BEARS.
